Wine Club Bottle Release

June 2024 Release

The first offering for our June release is the latest iteration of a perennial favorite; our 2023 Vin Gris. This year we have a complex blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir. Each variety was harvested and fermented separately. The resulting wine is bright pink and beautiful, with a vibrant nose of candied strawberry and fresh cream. We only made 80 cases of this summertime quaff so, stock up now before we drink it all!

Next up, we have our 2023 Riesling. Every year we arrest the fermentation of our Riesling according to a complex rubric based on Malic and Tartaric acid content, pH, Brix at harvest…and our mood at the time. Unlike our ’22 Riesling, which is nearly dry, our ’23 has just a touch of noticeable sweetness, supporting the lime and stone fruit aroma, and balancing the crisp acidity.

We are nearing the end of the 2018 Pinot Noir, and it is a sad thing, because with the powerful 2020s on next deck, it may be a while before we release another vintage to match its elegant subtlety. Delicate Pinot Noir like the 2018, is a perfect chillable picnic wine, and a wonderful match for summer fare, even some fish dishes. Imagine it with grilled salmon or salad nicoise.

Of course, not all summer fare is lightweight. Sometimes momma needs a nice grilled slab of cow! For these occasions, we suggest our 2020 Meritage. You’ve had it before and you have all been made aware of its aging potential, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it now. This 60/40 Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon blend is your grilled meat wine. We suggest highlighting the herbaceous notes of the Cabernet Franc with a chimichurri sauce on that steak!

"It’s hard to believe it has only been two years since we began our mission of assembling a little association of wine lovers, gastronomes, and hedonists. Sharing our passion for small production wine growing and highlighting the Niagara Escarpment’s consistent ability to produce truly world class wines has been a pleasure," stated Vineyard Manager Kurt Guba.

“If you aren’t taking advantage of your discount on all wine-related events, you should be! It is a great way to make the most of your membership. Check out our First Friday Wine Class which is a great way to expand your wine IQ. We will also let you know about pairing dinners, special tastings and vault releases available to Underground Wine Club Members, and you can also check out all of our fun Happenings.” added Winemaker Ryan Sidoti.
